Wedding fireworks – love ’em or hate ’em?

Hiya! How is your day going? I’m busily typing blog features for coming weeks, and trying to ignore the left hand side of my head, which has earache. The rest of my head is still working hard, and is pondering wedding fireworks. It’s bonfire night, after all! (If you’re off to a display of any kind tonight, stay safe and stay dry!)

I’ve written in the past with some advice about wedding fireworks, with a lot of help from Flashpoint Fireworks. But nowadays and as a cat owner I have a bit of a thing about fireworks – organised displays twice a year (on bonfire night and New Year’s Eve) are fine by me. But I really don’t like any more than that, especially in built up areas.

Wedding fireworks are a bit different, and I’m not sure what I think about them so I was wondering if you had an opinion about them, one way or the other?

They’re lovely as a surprise or a treat at the end of a wedding day, and I think it’s amazing when a bride or groom surprises their other half with a fab fireworks display.

But at the same time I wonder if they’re doing more harm than good. What must the squirrels think? (I’m a proper softie!) And do fireworks damage the environment?

Is it ok to have fireworks displays at country houses and mansions which are set away from towns and villages and won’t disturb the neighbours and dog walkers? Or would you rather see a ban on fireworks at weddings, a bit like the discussions people have been having about Chinese lanterns? Can’t we all make do with a pretty host of sparklers for that amazing last image of the night?

Are wedding fireworks even going out of fashion? I haven’t seen many submissions for the blog with fireworks a big feature this year – perhaps things have changed and this is another wedding trend we’re falling out of love with?

Share your thoughts in the comments below! Wedding fireworks – love ’em or hate ’em? And indeed, would you ban ’em?

Claire xxx
